   I'm looking around for any documentation / info on playing movies / avis only I think in WOW. The two methods I've seen are StartMovie / StopMovie - any others?

   No other functions exist, nor is it likely that we'll see any more.  The default user interface uses these functions to start any cinematics that are viewed in-game and those are never paused, only stopped and started.  If you want finer grained control the best you can do is faking movies with a series of textures that you change OnUpdate.
